You noticed something feels off. Maybe he's been on his phone more than usual, or you spotted a name in his following list you don't recognize. You want to check — but you don't want to make it a whole thing if it turns out to be nothing.

Here's the thing: Instagram makes it surprisingly hard to see who someone recently followed. The following list isn't sorted by date, so you're left scrolling through hundreds or thousands of accounts trying to spot anything new.

There's an easier way.

The problem with Instagram's following list

If you open your boyfriend's profile and tap "Following," you'll see a long list — but it's not in any particular order. Instagram scrambles it. There's no "sorted by newest" option, no timestamps, nothing. Even if he just followed someone five minutes ago, you'd have no way of knowing from the list alone.

Instagram used to have a feature that showed you recent activity from people you followed. They removed it in 2019. Since then, the only way to see this data is through a third-party tool that can access and sort Instagram's public information.

How to check anonymously

As long as his Instagram account is public, you can see his recent follows using Snoop Girlies. Here's how:

3. Wait about 10-20 seconds for results
4. You'll see his recent follows sorted by category: girls, guys, and other accounts

He will never know you searched. No notification, no trace, completely anonymous.

What if his account is private?

Unfortunately, if his account is set to private, there's no way to access his following data — not through Snoop Girlies or any other tool. Instagram locks private account data completely. The only option is if you already follow him and he's accepted your request.

What do you do with what you find?

Finding that he recently followed a few unknown girls doesn't automatically mean something is wrong — he might follow accounts for all kinds of reasons. But if you see a pattern, or if the accounts he's following look like he's been actively seeking them out, that's worth paying attention to.
