How to Check an Instagram Following List (The Right Way)
Checking someone's following list sounds simple until you try to make sense of it. The list is long, unsorted, and gives you no idea what's new. Here's how to check it in a way that's actually useful.
The problem with the raw list
Instagram shows a following list, but not in any order you can use. It's not newest-first, not alphabetical, and it doesn't flag recent additions. So you can technically 'check' it and still learn nothing about what changed this week.
Check it for change, not just contents
The useful question isn't 'who does he follow' (often hundreds of accounts) but 'what's different since last time'. That means you need the list sorted by recency and ideally a way to compare it over time.
- Pull the public following list.
- Sort it newest-first so recent adds are on top.
- Re-check later and compare, the deltas are what matter.
